Should the instruments on a gasifier be intrinsically safe or explosion-proof? How is the price comparison? Thank you!
Most instruments nowadays are intrinsically safe, which facilitates on-site maintenance. The flameproof instrument must be powered off before its cover can be opened on site.
It depends on how you divide your explosion-proof areas. Strictly speaking, the gasification furnace must be intrinsically safe.
Both intrinsically safe and flameproof versions are available in iaIICT4 or dIICT4
Analog signals can be handled using a intrinsically safe DCS together with a safety barrier. For digital solenoid valves operating at 24V DC and having relay outputs, can a safety barrier be used? What about solenoid valves operating at 220V?
