How are process interlocks and equipment interlocks distinguished in production?
You really have us stumped with this question; no one has ever asked it like this before. It seems the original poster isn’t very clear about interlocking issues! If we must point out a difference, process interlock includes equipment interlock, as the equipment is also part of the process. Equipment interlocking may be only the interlocking of a single device. No one makes such a strict distinction! It makes no sense!
There’s no such classification as you mentioned; if we were to classify things based on whether they’re annoying, we would divide them into small chains and large chains. Small interlocks can be connected to individual devices, while larger interlocks can interlock the entire setup, including those devices. But there are still inseparable relationships between the large and small interlocks~~~~
According to our company’s interlock management regulations, interlocks are not classified by equipment or process, but only by level. Grade A refers to high-risk media, while Grade B pertains to ordinary processes and equipment. Design and modifications are the responsibility of the process team, whereas manufacturing and maintenance fall under the responsibility of the instrumentation team.
Equipment interlocks generally refer to things such as shaft vibration and shaft displacement of the units, while process interlocks generally refer to parameters such as pressure, flow rate, and liquid level in process pipelines and towers
If the control of the equipment is handled by a central control system, then the interlock functions are also located on that computer. In cases where the equipment is controlled by an on-site PLC, the central control system generally only provides display and alarm functions, while the interlock actions are carried out by the equipment itself~~
Agree with what was said on floor 5! Does \"equipment\" refer to moving equipment and stationary equipment? Don’t static equipment belong to the process?
What the original poster is asking about is the distinction in production, not in design. Equipment interlocks are also part of process interlocks, and they are inseparable from the instrument signal interlock control within process control
