As the title suggests, it is to determine whether the concentration of biootoxic substances in a certain type of wastewater at hand meets the basic requirements of the anaerobic sludge process. Seal 500 ml of the water sample in a closed container. 10 ml of anaerobic sludge from the same type of wastewater treatment was inoculated. So the question is, how can I determine the activity of the inoculated sludge from an apparent perspective? Settling ratio? Degree of mixing? Smell? Bubbling? What is the size of the sludge particles? I earnestly ask all the experts for their guidance.
The environmental conditions in the hydrolysis-acidification tank are quite harsh, and protozoa are often not present there. The activity of the sludge can be assessed based on factors such as COD removal rate, pH changes, and the flocculation and sedimentation properties of the sludge. Additionally, an important function of hydrolysis-acidification is to break down large molecular organic compounds into smaller ones, which facilitates subsequent aerobic biological treatment; however, the COD level may not necessarily decrease. Therefore, it is necessary to consider its effects on the subsequent aerobic biological treatment process in order to make a judgment.
