May I ask why saturated steam rather than superheated steam is used in the steam heater for molecular sieves? Please explain it in simple terms, rather than using complex concepts that make it hard to understand. Thank you!
Superheated steam is generally used for power generation, and rarely for heating~~This is mainly because the amount of heat released when superheated steam condenses into saturated steam is very small; it is less than the energy required to convert saturated steam into superheated steam, making it uneconomical and not worth it~~
Saturated steam is used for heating, while superheated steam is used for transmission. 1. The heat released when superheated steam turns into saturated steam cannot be compared to the heat released when saturated steam turns into water. 2. Superheated steam, when used as heating steam, generates thermal stress, accelerating the aging of pipes in steam equipment.
Even saturated steam has a superheat temperature. Using saturated steam means that the latent heat of condensation will be utilized in the process.
In simple terms, using saturated steam allows one to take advantage of both the latent heat and the sensible heat of steam.
