What is coking in a settler?

Our unit is for heavy oil catalytic cracking. Recently, the raw material carbon residue level is 4.7 (with wax oil carbon residue at 1.7); it used to be 4.1 only. However, the main air flow has decreased, as well as the steam production from the external heat exchangers. We suspect coking in the settler. Please give us some advice, thanks! ! !
There isn’t enough data; generally, a forced draft air system is used for external heat extraction, which results in a significant decrease in the main air flow rate, and the amount of forced draft air is also affected as a result.
A decrease in main air volume and a decline in external steam generation are not sufficient conditions for coking in the settler, and they cannot indicate severe coking. It is recommended that the original poster re-analyze the carbon residue level. The change in residual carbon for the poster is 0.6%; accounting for errors, this is actually a very small change. If the properties of the raw materials used by the poster are sufficient to compensate for the effect of this change in residual carbon, it’s not possible to draw conclusions based on this single figure alone. That’s just my personal opinion.
