Dear masters: I would like to ask whether the gaskets (EPDM) used in plate heat exchangers are resistant to propylene corrosion. Thank you!

Ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber can be used, but nitrile rubber cannot
From my experience, EPDM is resistant to ethanol, but not to propylene and butylene – for your reference.
IIR and NR are resistant to acetone, but it is likely that manufacturers do not produce gaskets made from these materials. Among the more common gasket types, EPDM performs better than NBR and FKM; the latter two should definitely not be used. Therefore, EPDM can be used, but it’s best to avoid disassembling it frequently, as this can cause it to wear out quickly.
