The production section he works in is the most technically complex and critical one in the factory, as well as the most dangerous and difficult to manage – it involves the high-temperature cracking of flammable gases, which are highly explosive; it’s known as the \"volcano crater\". To master and operate this equipment, he devoted himself to the pyrolysis unit for 29 years. Thanks to his diligence, keen mind, and unwavering perseverance, he managed to fully understand this foreign-made equipment, mastering and further developing this world-leading technology. He continuously set new records for the stable and efficient operation of the acetylene furnaces, making extraordinary contributions in an ordinary position. Over 29 years, he has trained 34 apprentices in total. Most of the apprentices he trained have become key technical personnel or experts in operating equipment, with many of them rising to middle and senior management positions. Many of his apprentices are recent university graduates. As a mentor, he not only teaches them through words and example, helping them master production techniques and operational skills, but he also humbly learns modern scientific and technical knowledge from them, thereby continuously improving his own theoretical knowledge. Mi Yulin is well-versed in the production processes and technical parameters of these devices; he knows them extremely well, which has earned him the title of an expert on such devices. Over the years, he proposed and implemented **as many as 52 small technical improvements and innovations. In just 2003 and 2004 alone, Mi Yulin proposed 30 rationalization suggestions to address various production challenges, such as the modification of PRC110 by adding bypasses and the adjustment of the drainage point for the hot quenching water main. In particular, the modification of the natural gas cooling system by installing spray cooling devices increased the effective utilization rate of natural gas, which played a significant role in boosting production capacity and generated substantial economic benefits. From October 2002 to November 2003, during the entire process of installing and testing the new equipment as well as putting it into operation, Mi Yulin gave up all his official holidays and worked day and night, spending over ten hours a day working on the equipment; sometimes he didn’t return home for two or three days. When he was too tired, he would just rest for a while on a chair in the office. Thanks to his extensive practical experience, excellent technical skills, scientific data analysis, and diligent work attitude, he ensured the successful commissioning of the new equipment, making significant contributions to generating new benefits for the company.
