What is on both sides of the diaphragm in a diaphragm metering pump?

I looked at the drawings of the diaphragm metering pump. On the side of the diaphragm metering pump that is adjacent to the pump head, it’s the medium, and on the other side it’s the lubricating oil, right? Additionally, when observing through the discharge port to determine which side of the dual-layer diaphragm has ruptured, what could be the cause of the rupture on the side that is not in contact with the medium? Is the essence of this pump to utilize the incompressibility of the liquid, so that the reciprocating movement of the plunger within the chamber causes the diaphragm to move in a closed space? I’m a beginner; I’ve never seen the actual product, so I’m relying entirely on my own assumptions and not sure if they are correct. I earnestly ask the experts for their guidance and am ready to learn from them. . .
One side contains hydraulic oil, while the other side holds corrosive liquids
