I have received a project for the renovation and installation of gas pipelines in a steel plant, but the material of the pipes wasn’t specified. I would like to ask: what is the typical material used for cold-rolling gas pipelines in steel plants, those used for coke oven gas (COG), mixed gas (MG), and converter gas (LOG)?
For coke oven gas, since the pressure is not high – the pressure of the gas returning to the furnace is less than 40 kPa – Q235B is sufficient； Mixed gas, such as gas produced by atmospheric-pressure fixed-bed generators, also has a low pressure, and Q235B is sufficient as well ； The pressure of converter gas is not very clear! Under normal circumstances, for gas pipelines with a pressure of 0.1 mPa or less, material Q235B can be used; GB3091 is recommended ； For gas pipelines with a pressure of over 0.1 MPa, grade 20# is recommended; GB8163 is the standard to follow.
