The bottom plate of the water seal tank was originally made of 12CrMo steel; can it be replaced with 15CrMoR steel? If possible, does the 15CrMoR steel plate require post-weld heat treatment? When 15CrMoR steel plates are used as pressure-bearing components, post-weld heat treatment is required. What about when they are used as non-pressure-bearing components?

For the welding of 15CrMoR steel plates, depending on the thickness of the plates and the type of welding electrode used, heat treatment may not be necessary. However, for greater certainty, it is recommended to carry out heat treatment. According to previous standards, for 15CrMo plates with a thickness of 10 mm or more, the preheating temperature should be between 150–200 °C, while the heat treatment temperature for the welded joints should be between 700–750 °C. Under the new standards, all 15CrMo steel plates, regardless of thickness, require preheating, with a preheating temperature of at least 150 °C; the heat treatment temperature for 15CrMo plates with a thickness of 10 mm or more remains 700–750 °C℃
