Can oil hydrogenation catalysts experience reverse sulfidation due to insufficient sulfur content in the feed oil? This applies to pre-sulfided Ni-W-Mo series catalysts.
This is because the catalyst is pre-sulfurized before operation; in other words, sulfur is already present on the catalyst. If the sulfur content of the feed is low, then, according to equilibrium principles, part of the sulfur on the catalyst will be reduced.
