Clause 3.3.8 of the «Code for Fire Protection of Buildings GB50016-2014» stipulates that substation and distribution stations shall not be located within or adjacent to Class A or Class B factories. However, clause 5.3.5 of the \"Code for Design of Electrical Installations in Hazardous Environments GB 50058-2014\" states that if the distribution room is under positive pressure, it can be located in Zone 1 or Zone 2. Isn’t this contradictory?
These “stations” and “rooms” differ in scale; within our factory’s Class A buildings, there are positive-pressure electrical switchgear boxes and control cabinets. The power distribution stations, on the other hand, are not located inside the Class A buildings – they are all outside of them! I’ll be keeping an eye on this post too! :victory:
There’s no contradiction here. Classes A and B refer to the classification of a substance’s fire hazard, with the basic unit for such classification being the factory building; this standard is aimed at buildings, after all, it’s a building code. This regulation also does not apply to **equipment and factories/warehouses for fireworks. And GB50058 can handle it. Zone 1/2 refers to the classification of explosive gas environments; the basic unit for such classification can be a factory building, but often it is just a part of that building or of the production area. For more details, see Article 3.3.1 of GB50058. This standard applies not only to buildings but also to mines, structures, and vehicles; strictly speaking, it is aimed at the electrical equipment in these locations. For example, the underground power distribution room in a coal mine.
