Does the bottom baffle in the regeneration tower, which separates the cold zone from the hot zone, have any other functions? Could you be more specific?
The side connected to the reboiler has a higher temperature, resulting in more turbulent boiling; the other side remains relatively cleaner, with less residue left from the pedal.

The methanol solution with the higher impurity concentration is then drawn out for filtration. Filter out the impurities, so that the filtering effect will be better. Compared to not using a partition, the cost of relying solely on filtration is lower. Pipelines, valves, filters, pumps……the investment all decreases
It can also increase the water content in the methanol on the reboiler side, which is then sent to the methanol-water separation tower.

Due to the difference in boiling points between methanol and water, methanol continuously evaporates compared to that on the other side of the partition, resulting in a slightly higher water content in the reboiler.
A process without partitions can also work. The addition of partitions demonstrates the optimization in design.
Essentially, on the side of the reboiler, there is an additional theoretical plate compared to the other side; in total, there are n+1 plates. Therefore, the concentration of heavy components (water) in the liquid phase on this plate is naturally higher than that in the liquid phase of the previous plate, and this is also the case in actual production.
