Can an air-based coal feeding system be used in a gasifier?

Existing gasification units all use CO2 or N2 to transport coal; is there any that uses compressed air for this purpose? O2 needs to be supplied into the gasifier anyway; if air is used for coal feeding, this amount of oxygen should not pose any safety issues.
Using nitrogen and CO2 gases is mainly due to safety considerations
