Hello everyone. The air supply for the pneumatic clutch of our plant’s coal grinding mills comes from an air compressor. This compressor draws in air from the surrounding environment and compresses it; the compressed air then passes through a small water-air separator before entering the air storage tank. From there, it goes through another small water-air separator before reaching the pneumatic clutch. When the mill is in operation, over the course of a few days, a large amount of water will accumulate in the two water-steam separators, the air compressor tank, as well as the air storage tank. The water-steam separators, in particular, always end up filled with water. I’d like to share the problems that have occurred in our factory under these conditions: the solenoid valves located after the air storage tank fail frequently, and the pressure switches used for releasing air from the airbags also malfunction often. So far, no issues have been detected with the airbags of the pneumatic clutches
Does the soda separator have continuous drainage or intermittent drainage?
It’s a very small air filter with a very limited water storage capacity – about the size of a cup. Water can be drained when the grinder is stopped; there’s a plug at the bottom, but drainage isn’t possible while it’s in operation. When I am on duty and operating the machine, I usually carry out a thorough drainage once the grinder has stopped. The air compressor tank, as well as the air storage tank of the pneumatic clutch, both discharge water, and there is a lot of it.
It is recommended to replace the plug with a valve and use a longer drain pipe to see if that can solve the problem
The idea is good; specific implementation still needs to be refined. For long rows, I don’t think it’s possible to ensure that all the water is drained without air getting in. Also, on the current pneumatic clutch, there’s a valve at the bottom of the air tank; when I drain it while under pressure (7.5 kilograms), not only water comes out, but air as well{:3_55:}

Is drainage done regularly at the end of each shift? If it needs to be done more frequently, then valves cannot be used; simply removing the plugs will suffice. As for the airiness, is it okay once the exhaust is almost done?
Well, we connected an air pipeline weighing around 10 kilograms directly from the air storage tank, and we removed all six air compressors in the coal grinding plant – there wasn’t even a little bit of those that were still usable

Our company used to be like you guys too, but later we switched to using factory air as the air source, which is better than before; at least it’s much less troublesome.
