Alumina production wastewater

Dear seniors, I have received wastewater from alumina production. According to the client, this water contains substances such as ammonia, ammonium chloride, sulfates, and sodium, with ammonium chloride being the predominant component. The water is clear and transparent, with a COD value of 8000. I would like to ask whether these components in the water will inhibit microorganisms if biological treatment is used It has a somewhat pungent ammonia-like smell, similar to the odor of agricultural pesticides.
The pH of this wastewater should be alkaline; ion exchange resins with high exchange capacity can be used to treat the salts, and anionic resins have the ability to adsorb certain organic substances, which can help reduce COD to a certain extent.
