In the event of an emergency shutdown or trip of the gasification system, the valves XV02 and XV03 in the slurry pipeline close 1 second after the high-pressure slurry pump stops operating. Is it possible to extend this 1-second delay further? This would help prevent overpressure in the high-pressure slurry pump!
To answer your question, in theory, after a high-pressure slurry pump stops operating, the crankshaft’s inertia may cause it to keep rotating, and the shut-off valve closing immediately could lead to overpressure. In practice, however, this does not happen, as the slurry shut-off valve is designed to close right away once the pump stops.
I’m not very familiar with your manufacturing process, but in theory, if the valves open as a result of pressure sensors detecting excessively high pressure and sending an instruction to open the valves in order to regulate that pressure, then it should be possible to adjust the time during which the valves remain open; If the valve opens in a manner similar to how safety valves work, it may be difficult to extend the time it remains open ; This needs to be confirmed with the valve manufacturer ;
Our system experiences pressure buildup at the beginning of testing; you can check this while operating the machine, and adjustments should be made based on actual conditions. The main factors determining this are the length of the slurry pipeline and the response time of the valves on site. Don’t rely on what other factories do – make adjustments during actual production.
