The hazards associated with this include: 1) reduced octane rating of gasoline; 2) decreased stability of the oils during storage, transportation, and use; 3) corrosion of equipment; 4) poisoning of catalysts used in further processing; 5) environmental pollution and harm to human health. Among these, sulfur-containing compounds pose the greatest threat.
