What is the leakage rate of a mechanical seal?

We currently have Roots vacuum pumps with single-face seals. The process requirements specify that pressure should be applied from the oil tank, using compressed air; however, I don’t know what the appropriate pressure level or duration should be. I’m also wondering what the acceptable leakage rate for such seals should be – no standards have been found. For hydrostatic tests, it is stated that water is used as the medium, but there is no information regarding the use of gases.
The book says 10 drops per minute is allowed; it’s not me who said that

Unless there are other special requirements, according to API 682, when conducting a mechanical seal test with gas, the leakage rate shall not exceed 1000 ml/m3.
According to API682-2004, 10.3.1.4.1, the requirements for items a and b are 1000 ppm and 5.6 g/L (2 drops per minute), respectively; there may be slight differences for each other model.
