Can a pressure relief valve be modified?

Currently, the laboratory needs boron fluoride. Due to cost issues, the company will not supply special pressure relief valves; instead, it is necessary to modify existing chlorine pressure relief valves. Is this approach feasible? Could there be any safety hazards? I would appreciate it if fellow sailors could provide some valuable suggestions.

The maximum input pressure is different; the chlorine pressure regulator has a lower maximum input pressure compared to the boron trifluoride pressure regulator. Could this lead to an explosion?
