There is a project recently that involves a hydrogenation process; after hydrogenation, the hydrogen contains organic compounds and other impurities. After purification, the hydrogen is reused, but it is necessary to discharge a certain amount of hydrogen periodically or irregularly (the current estimated discharge rate is 40 Nm3/h). In addition, a safety valve is used to discharge some of the hydrogen as well. Consideration is being given to using flares for the combustion treatment of waste gases; currently, there are suggestions that they can be released directly (after the pollutants are purified to meet standards). May I ask: Can it be discharged directly? If it is discharged directly, how can safety be ensured?
Discharging it directly is an irresponsible approach; it is recommended to burn it outright
For direct flame combustion and emission, some steam needs to be mixed in, right?~~~~

It cannot be discharged directly; it can be fed into a gas heating furnace for combustion. The waste gases generated from the production of hydrogen from methanol are fed into a heat transfer oil furnace for combustion.
It’s fine if the chimney is a bit taller; after all, with hydrogen, a small amount of emission is not a problem, as hydrogen tends to accumulate at higher altitudes.
