Hello everyone. I’m currently working on a project related to surface engineering in oil fields. Since my previous work has been in the field of oil refining, I don’t have much experience with surface engineering for oil fields. There are various types of heating furnaces used in oil fields, such as fire-tube furnaces and tubular furnaces. After researching some literature, I find it difficult to determine the most suitable type of furnace for this application. In this project, the heating furnace is used to heat crude oil; its capacity is 3 MW, the water content is 20%, the temperature range is 77–130 degrees, and the inlet viscosity is CP=68. I would like to ask everyone which type of furnace would be the best choice in this situation? What is the reason? Thank you all
The temperature range of 77-130 degrees is too wide. A phase change heating furnace can be used for 77 degrees, while an organic carrier furnace can be used for 130 degrees.
What about using a tubular furnace used in oil refining? For example, a spiral tube furnace. What are the selection criteria for organic carrier furnaces? What is the difference from a barrel furnace and a tubular furnace?
Among the heating furnaces used in oil fields that I have come across, some use electric heating directly, while others have furnace tubes inside; these are called heatertreaters and also have certain separation functions.
