GB19592-2004 \"Detergents for Automotive Gasoline\" specifies the demulsification performance requirements and testing methods for such detergents. The specific testing standard is GB/T 19230.2 \"Test methods for demulsification performance of gasoline detergents\". I’m very confused about the demulsification criteria. In the standards, demulsibility specifies the performance requirements regarding interfacial and phase separation properties of gasoline after the addition of detergents. Among them, the interfacial area is no more than 1b, and phase separation is no more than 2. However, the notes below the specifications state that for blank base gasoline without detergents, both the interfacial condition and phase separation must meet grade 1. Doesn’t this mean that the demulsifying ability of gasoline deteriorates after the addition of a detergent? What is the point of setting such a metric? Is it my understanding of the concept of demulsibility that is incorrect? I hope the teachers can help me figure this out. Thank you!
