In underground sedimentation tanks used in municipal sewage treatment plants, submersible pumps are employed for sludge removal, and pump burnout often occurs. Is there any type of wet pump that can be used to remove the sludge from such sedimentation tanks?
What is the sludge content? For the sludge pumps used in our Wuliangye wastewater treatment project, slurry pumps have been employed, and they are operating smoothly at present.
Reasons for failures or burnout of submersible pump sludge pumps: 1. Excessively high and viscous sludge concentration reduces its flowability, causing the pump to overload and fail; 2. Impurities such as filaments, fibers, or large solid particles are present at the pump inlet, causing blockage or obstruction there and leading to pump overload and failure ; 3. Abnormal pH levels in water or high corrosivity can cause damage to the power supply circuits, leading to failures ; 4. Poor export management leads to overloading of the pump and subsequent failure ; 5. The quality of the pump itself is poor. Suggestions: 1. Troubleshoot based on the cause of the pump failure; if it can be resolved, submersible pumps are still quite reliable ; 2. It is recommended to purchase submersible pump products of reliable quality, opting for joint-venture or imported submersible pumps ; 3. If it is not possible to rule out the factors causing problems with submersible pumps, it is recommended to use a centrifugal pump combined with a negative pressure tank.
