What processes are commonly used for dechlorination of the gas in the reforming and regeneration cycle? We use an alkaline solution cycle, but crystallization occurs easily with this method. Do anyone have any good methods?

For the delivery of hydrogen after reformation, a low-temperature dechlorinating agent is used, while for the regenerated gas, alkaline washing is employed. I’m not sure what the effect would be if it’s changed to a dechlorinating agent; how often does one need to replace the dechlorinating agent?

Our company previously used alkaline washing for chlorine removal in the regas from continuous reforming, but after modification, fixed-bed chlorine removal was adopted, achieving satisfactory results. Currently, UOP and AXENS’ processes use alkaline washing for dechlorination, while LPEC uses fixed-bed dechlorination; each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.

We use alkaline washing for chlorine removal, with heat tracing on the pipelines, and perform backflushing twice a week (the frequency of backflushing can be increased); the results are quite good.
I switched to a fixed-bed dechlorination system 12 years ago!
