I am working on my graduation project related to the crude benzene processing unit, and I would like to ask what the typical height of a single layer in a packed tower made of wood is, as well as what the total height of such a tower is. Thank you.
Forget it, who uses wooden packing anymore! Currently, it is mainly wreath packing and orifice plate corrugated plate packing.
I wonder how much you calculated?

Last time, wreaths were used, but the book suggested using wooden boards. I couldn’t understand the design of the wreaths from last time at all, so I used the method described in the book with wooden boards
The key issue is that the book only covers the case of 3 units connected in series, with each unit having around 157 layers; beyond that, it goes no further. . . Then there’s no height specified; in the previous edition, a height was also chosen for the wreath – it was just some value that was picked at random.
Now one tower is sufficient; using wreaths or regular packing is too outdated
Thirty years ago, it was calculated that if the packing was in the form of wreaths or corrugated plates, one tower would be sufficient; whereas if it was wooden grids, three towers connected in series were needed
