Handling of asphalt? 1) What is the operating temperature? Should it be kept at 140 all the time, or cooled naturally before being loaded onto a vehicle or transferred to another tank, at which point it can be heated again? 2) Must the feed pipe for the asphalt tank use a top-feed design? How should it be designed after feeding from the top of the tank? 3) What should be the safe operating liquid level for asphalt?
The softening point of asphalt determines its storage temperature, depending on the heating method used – whether it is a conventional steam heating coil or a rapid heater
Maintain the temperature at 120-160 degrees; feeding from the bottom of the tank is sufficient. Ordinary asphalt storage tanks are equipped with heating coils, and the temperature of the asphalt when it is loaded onto trucks for transportation is also around 130 degrees. Asphalt tank trucks come fitted with self-heating devices and insulation.
