The boiler feed pump used in our company has a rated head of 1600 meters and a flow rate of 240 cubic meters. Currently, there are four pumps with two in operation and two as backups, and the pumps are switched over once a month. Question: Is it necessary to reverse the pump so frequently? It is necessary; power plants have such regulations regarding the two types of permits and the three systems. The three systems refer to the shift handover system, the regular inspection system for equipment, and the regular rotation system for equipment. Regular rotation of equipment means switching it on at regular intervals. The purposes of this switching are, first, to stop the equipment for maintenance, and second, to ensure that backup equipment is put into operation on a regular basis so that its reliability can be verified. In fact, keeping equipment idle for long periods is also a form of waste. Therefore, it can be said that regularly switching devices is beneficial and harmless.
