How is this industry doing these days? Is there an adequate supply of raw materials such as smelting dust and waste residues? Is it a good acquisition?
Smelting dust should be considered hazardous waste; one needs to have the appropriate qualifications in order to purchase it. Manufacturers would have to pay out of their own pocket for it – there’s no need for any financial compensation, right?
Well, it’s part of the hazardous waste industry; however, dust containing metals such as indium and bismuth is considered a resource and needs to be purchased. I currently have a project in hand for which I have the necessary qualifications. But it’s not clear whether the raw materials are easy to obtain
Slag from non-ferrous metal smelting definitely falls under the category of hazardous waste management. In accordance with the regulations regarding hazardous waste, any cross-regional transfer of smelting ash for sale requires the use of a \"five-copy form.\" The party receiving the ash must not only possess the necessary qualifications but also have an allocated quota for its receipt. The total quotas are allocated at various levels; each province must first handle the amount of hazardous waste generated by its own enterprises, and only if there is a surplus can it accept hazardous waste transferred in from other provinces. It’s not as simple as saying that just because I have the capacity to handle hazardous waste, and someone else has such waste, they can sell it to me for processing. It is difficult for waste treatment companies to obtain the necessary technology, qualifications, and capabilities; moreover, handling the regulatory procedures related to supervision and transfer is even more challenging. The total amount of hazardous waste allowed per year and per province is adjusted from time to time. With increasingly strict environmental regulations and the promotion of the concept of cleaner production, there is an overall trend toward reducing the total amount of hazardous waste. A decrease in overall volume, delays in approving transfer requests, and situations where buyers cannot make purchases while sellers cannot sell their goods can all lead to idle factory capacity and losses. Therefore, when setting up such factories, it is safer to consider more factors in a more comprehensive manner.

Wastewater generated by wet processing is a problem, and exhaust gases from thermal processing are also a problem. It depends on whether it’s possible to meet environmental regulations. If the pricing factors are appropriate, it’s possible to make money from this process regardless of how it’s carried out. After all, there are many elements that can be recovered – copper, zinc, lead, bismuth, tin, antimony – and elements with higher concentrations such as gold, silver, and indium also represent valuable resources! It just depends on how it’s done; the technology is well-developed and the difficulty isn’t high.
Zinc extraction from dust collected from steel mills now requires high-efficiency desulfurization equipment, which is expensive.
In areas with a high concentration of steel production, raw materials are not an issue; the main challenges are cost, procedures, environmental protection, and environmental impact assessments.
