Difference between 304 stainless steel chain plates and 316 stainless steel chain plates

The two most commonly used types of chain plates in our hardware industry are 304 and 316. The main difference between 316 stainless steel chain plates and 304 stainless steel chain plates lies in their chemical composition. To be honest, 316 stainless steel chain plates have better corrosion resistance, making them more suitable for use in high-temperature environments. Therefore, in such cases, engineers generally use 316 stainless steel chain plates. With some special exceptions: 316 stainless steel chain plates cannot be used in an environment with concentrated sulfuric acid, as this may cause unnecessary damage. Those who study mechanics have learned about threads; under high temperatures, these threads can seize, and a black solid lubricant needs to be applied in such cases. This tells us two things: 1. Mo is indeed a material resistant to high temperatures, and 2. Molybdenum reacts easily with high-valent sulfur ions to form sulfides. No stainless steel chain plate can withstand corrosion. Ultimately, a stainless steel chain plate is simply steel containing many impurities; it is a compound formed as a result of reactions with other types of steel.
