It is mainly distributed in Guizhou, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, Fujian, Taiwan, Hunan, and other places. It prefers warm and humid conditions as well as sunny locations; it is fairly cold-resistant and can tolerate partial shade. It does not tolerate waterlogging, and requires loose, fertile, acidic sandy loam soil. It is prone to chlorosis, which causes the leaves to turn yellow. It is native to China. I have some like that at home; they have white flowers and a very pleasant fragrance, but they tend to turn yellow easily
