The welding processes for A1 and A3 are submerged arc automatic welding, while the welds for A2 and A4 are shorter; the welding process for these is shielded metal arc welding. Two are sufficient (as for the number of product welding specimens required per device: in my opinion, if the welding process evaluation is the same – i.e., the welding method, thickness range, and other important factors are identical – then only one set of welding specimens needs to be prepared)
If A1 and A3 use the same submerged arc welding assessment, and A2 and A4 welds use the same manual welding assessment, I believe it would be sufficient to prepare two specimens.

In fact, from the perspective of controllable quality and efficiency, the same welding process should be used for A1 to A3, and the longitudinal seam of the manway sections could also adopt the same process as that used for A1. This way, just one set of test pieces is sufficient. If manual welding is required for the manhole section, I believe there is no need to prepare product welding specimens.
1. The number of welding test plates shall be determined by the manufacturer if not specified in the drawings. 2. For ordinary manholes, the end caps are not used as product welding test plates. It is mainly done by longitudinal seams on the cylinder. Save costs.
