Friends, which department is responsible for the on-site level gauges in your factory? Is it a device? Is it a gauge?
Need I ask? Of course it’s the instrumentation field
Meters with remote transmission are classified as instruments, while those without remote transmission are classified as process equipment.
Level gauges fall under instrument management...
Management is a rather vague concept. As I understand it, the installation and removal of field instruments are the responsibility of the equipment itself, while tasks such as calibration are generally handled by the instruments. It doesn’t require much technical expertise; it’s determined by who will take the lead, or in other words, who will be assigned to investigate the problem first – this is specified by procedures or regulations.
The on-site level gauges are relatively simple; it depends on the company’s rules as to who is responsible for them. It also depends on which manager the company’s leaders trust – those whom they trust will be given less work, thus reducing the likelihood of problems occurring.
