Vietnam is the third-largest oil producer in Asia. Over the past 40 years, its oil and gas industry has produced nearly 1 billion barrels of crude oil and 300 billion cubic feet of natural gas. In terms of oil exploration, production, and related infrastructure, the industry has attracted foreign investment worth over $5 billion. It is estimated that in the next 50 years, Vietnam will be able to extract 4.5 billion barrels of oil and 23 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
Vietnam’s vast continental shelf is where most oil and gas exploration and extraction activities take place. The Vietnamese continental shelf covers an area of about 1 million square kilometers, with 80% of oil and gas fields located in the southern part of the shelf, primarily in 7 basins.
High demand for oil in Vietnam: Market analysis shows that Vietnam’s oil consumption is expected to increase by 101% between 2007 and 2018. Even if the average annual growth rate slows down to 6%, Vietnam’s oil consumption will still reach 30 million tons by 2018. The agency also provides forecasts for Vietnam’s natural gas demand; in terms of production, it is expected that the country’s output will increase from 7.7 billion cubic meters in 2007 to 25 billion cubic meters by 2018. Construction of a new integrated petrochemical refinery: Vietnam is building an integrated refinery in the southern part of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province at a cost of 3.7 billion dollars (the Long-Song phase was completed in 2011, with the entire project set to be finished by 2013). The Long-Song refinery is set to become Vietnam’s third-largest integrated petrochemical and refining complex. 2. Expanding condensate storage facilities: Vietnam Petroleum Equipment Metal Structure Company and Petechim Joint Stock Company, a trading firm under Vietsovpetro, will invest approximately $14 million in the Cai Mep Industrial Park in southern Da Nang to expand the storage facilities for natural gas condensate. Vietnam Times – Highlights of the exhibition: After exhibitors register, they can provide product photos, which we then send to buyers via email, mail, or the official website.
