Metallic materials form the framework, while asbestos, graphite, and similar materials are what actually provide sealing. The flexibility and ductility of these materials, along with the strong compressive force exerted by bolts, are used to create the necessary deformation in order to achieve sealing.
I now prohibit the use of asbestos gaskets here, as they are harmful to human health
