Do you think that defects in waterproofing work only result in leaks? Moisture buildup on walls, which causes the surface to become fuzzy and peeling, as well as mold growth, are all consequences of mistakes in waterproofing work. Generally, the most severely affected areas are the bathrooms, where the most water is used; this is either due to inadequate waterproofing or damage to the waterproof layer. After the waterproof coating installation is completed, a water test can be conducted to check whether the work is satisfactory. Water retention test, inspection of floor waterproofing works: For floors on which the waterproof coating has been applied, block off outlets, drains, etc. tightly, then fill the testing area with water to a depth of ≥20 mm (usually 30–40 mm). Make sure to accurately mark the water level, and the testing period is 24 hours. During the testing period, inspections should be carried out every hour in the initial stage; later on, this interval can be extended to once every 2–3 hours. If there is no significant drop in water level after 24 hours, it indicates that the project is successful. In case of leakage, the work must be redone after draining the water. Water spraying test for wall waterproofing inspection: On a wall that has been coated with waterproof material, a water spraying test is carried out. For 4 hours, water is sprayed continuously on the wall using a hose for 3 seconds at a time, with the water being applied from top to bottom. The back side of the wall is then inspected to check for any signs of water leakage. If no leakage is detected, the wall’s waterproofing can be considered satisfactory; otherwise, it is necessary to apply the waterproof material again. No inspection of the waterproofing work was carried out; in other words, the waterproofing work was done without any inspection. If any defects are found during the inspection, they can be repaired immediately – it’s never too late to fix things ； If problems are discovered after the overall renovation is completed, having to redo the work will not only waste manpower and resources but also result in financial losses.
