The bed resistance in gas filler scrubber towers is high; are there any better methods besides acid washing?
The high bed resistance in the gas scrubber is mainly caused by excessive dust accumulation in the scrubber. Pickling is commonly used to remove carbonate scale to a certain extent. Gas dust does not belong to the carbonate category, making it difficult to achieve a cleaning effect. To prevent a rapid increase in bed resistance and thus avoid disruptions to the smooth operation of the production line, gas washing towers typically require that the majority of dust be removed before the gas enters the tower, so that only a small amount of residual dust enters the tower for purification. Otherwise, it will lead to rapid accumulation of dust in the scrubber tower, a swift increase in pressure drop, and sometimes forced shutdowns to clear the blockages. For the dust removal equipment used before gas enters the scrubber tower, methods such as the \"multi-factor swirl parent-child separator approach\" or the \"Venturi scrubbing + multi-factor swirl parent-child separator approach\" can be employed; in medium and high pressure conditions, filtration methods can also be used to remove the vast majority of dust in advance. The gas containing a small amount of residual dust must be fed into the scrubber for washing before it can ensure the long-term stable operation of the scrubber. Typical large-scale gasification units and process packages both domestically and internationally, such as those from Siemens, GSP, Shell, etc., employ these pre-dust removal processes before proceeding to the scrubber tower.
