Can those who work in research institutes apply for the CPA exam?

The original poster passed the basic exam during their graduate studies and is now working at a research institute. Is it necessary to work at a design institute in order to be eligible to take the exam?

The research institute alone doesn’t have design qualifications! The design and research institute has design qualifications!
