In hydrogen production, 3.5 MPa steam and desulfurization gas are mixed in a mixer before entering a temperature reducer, and then proceeding to the conversion furnace. What is the function of the temperature reducer? It’s my first time seeing this device, so I’m seeking help from everyone here!

Steam is transported at a higher temperature to prevent condensation, while if the device does not require such a high temperature, the temperature is reduced. In our unit, deoxygenated water is added to reduce temperature and pressure.
Control the temperature! If I’m not mistaken, the steam is heated in exchange for heat with the feed gas before being mixed in, right?

3.5MPa steam is superheated steam; the operating temperature does not need to be this high
Saturated steam at 3.5 MPa has a temperature of around 425 degrees, while superheated steam has a temperature of around 475 degrees; it’s just a few degrees difference, which leads to different names for these states

It mainly serves to reduce temperature, preventing carbon deposition due to excessively high temperatures in the conversion furnace tubes. The injected deoxygenated water does not have a pressure-reducing effect.
