I am an aromatization unit that processes C3/C4 liquefied gas to produce light aromatics. There is a temperature rise in the first layer of the reactor, no change in the second layer, and a temperature rise in the third layer; however, the temperature before reaction is 30°C lower than that in the upper layers. The normal octane rating for light aromatic hydrocarbons is around 90, but these days it’s not even 80. I hope the experts here can help by explaining why this is the case ? ? Thank you! ! !

It has been resolved; the instability of the raw materials in the initial stage caused the temperature at the furnace outlet to be too low, and the cold material prevented the reaction from continuing. By controlling the temperature increase, normal operation was restored after a few hours!
The temperature of the three layers of beds decreased significantly, and the signatory reactions weakened greatly. The reactions that occurred in the first few layers were disproportionation, isomerization, etc., with the main reaction taking place only in the last layer.
