Last night, the strong wind caused fluctuations and a decrease in the oxygen level in the heating furnace. I increased the opening of the air valves, but the oxygen level neither rose nor fell. Then I increased the opening of the flue dampers, yet again the oxygen level remained unchanged. After the wind weakened a bit, I reduced the opening of the flue dampers and air valves, and the oxygen level gradually started to rise again. Theoretically, isn’t it true that when the wind is strong, one should just reduce the opening of the flue damper? But if it’s turned down, won’t the oxygen content be even lower? I’m a beginner; I’ve never operated a heating furnace before. I humbly ask for the experts’ guidance in advance; thank you very much.

There are many factors that affect oxygen content, such as the negative pressure in the furnace, the opening degree of the flue dampers, the opening degree of the air vents, the air vents on the burners themselves, and the observation holes. The level of oxygen content can also be determined by the color of the flame as shown on the furnace monitor. It should also be noted that it is best not to adjust the air vents and flue dampers simultaneously. The testing points for oxygen content are located in the convection chamber, and it takes some time for changes to take effect after adjustments are made.
Weather conditions can indeed cause malfunctions in the adjustment of flue dampers and air valves; we encounter this situation frequently in our workshop. I believe that during abnormal weather, uneven air flow or vortices may occur, which leads to uneven airflow from the blowers.
