What is used for threading installation of HVAC pipes?

After threading the HVAC pipes, galvanized steel pipes are used; generally, lead paint and hemp are employed for joining them. Are there any other methods? Are there any specific standards? Please advise! ! !
In the past, lead paint and hemp were used, and polytetrafluoroethylene tape can also be used.
Currently, it is mostly sesame oil thread or raw tape; for the specific specifications, you can refer to the Construction Specifications for Building Water Supply, Drainage, and Heating Systems
It’s been so many years, and it’s still these same materials. I’ve asked many people if there are any new alternative materials, but it seems none exist. It’s really not acceptable – it’s troublesome to use, it doesn’t look good, and the raw sealing tape isn’t strong enough. What’s needed is a fast, convenient, strong, and durable sealing tape
The specifications basically only mention sesame oil threads; there’s nothing else. It seems that the standards don’t include any detailed requirements regarding these sesame oil threads either
Have you tried it? Which type of sealant? So do we still need sealant and hemp?
I use either hot air or regular compressed air; hemp is not allowed. It seems to be Loctite 262; I can’t remember for sure. :dizzy:
I’ve also learned about this, but I’ve never used it; I don’t know how it works either, and I’m worried that the sealing won’t be good enough.
