Since the bearing temperature of centrifugal pumps and the temperature of the motor stator cannot be measured accurately, infrared thermometers are generally used to measure the temperature of the motor casing and the bearing housings; as a result, it is not possible to establish an exact criterion for evaluation. In my experience, the temperature on the motor side should not exceed 90 degrees, while that on the bearing side should not exceed 65 degrees. Additionally, different bearing materials need to be taken into consideration, and consulting the manufacturer of the pump’s bearings will provide a satisfactory answer.

Excessively high temperatures can cause the viscosity of the bearing lubricant to decrease, leading to increased loss of lubricant. In addition, very high temperatures in the motor can cause the insulation layer of the enameled wires to melt, resulting in short circuits.
The temperature for grease lubrication should not exceed 80 degrees, while for oil lubrication it should not exceed 70 degrees.
