After months of experimental exploration, the technical challenges associated with the comprehensive utilization of waste acid generated in the TFT glass finishing industry have finally been resolved. Separation and utilization of fluoroaluminate, fluorosilicic acid, and hydrofluoric acid. It has enabled full utilization of HF, reduced wastewater treatment costs, and brought about a positive change – from a treatment cost of 300 yuan per ton of waste acid to a revenue generation of 200 yuan per ton of acid recovered. It reduces environmental pressures while generating significant economic benefits.

The spent acid is purified into a clean acid solution after filtering out the solid glass powder. Then, fluorosilicic acid is obtained after removing hydrofluoric acid; after shielding the interference from fluoroaluminate using additives, it is reacted with industrial salts to produce qualified sodium fluorosilicate. After the filtrate is neutralized with lime, calcium fluoride is produced, which is then further used to manufacture building materials. The liquid is discharged up to standard requirements to a secondary wastewater treatment plant.
