I would like to ask the experts here: The client needs 40kg of gate valves and globe valves for handling liquid or gaseous chlorine, with the liquid chlorine having a purity of 95% or higher. What material should be used for such valves? Is it necessary to use fluorinated coatings or bellows?
Bellows are necessary, but fluorinated-lined valves are not available in the 40-kilogram version. For liquid chlorine, austenitic stainless steel is sufficient; however, if you require a guaranteed purity level, water present can cause severe corrosion
Regarding material selection, available data indicates that Hastelloy C is suitable for liquid chlorine, carbon steel is sufficient for dry chlorine, while titanium is appropriate for wet chlorine. Using a bellows valve is the preferred choice.
