It mainly comes down to the choice of bolts; they are coated with anti-corrosion paints such as XYLAN paint, which also provides insulating properties. Can stainless steel pipes be welded to each other? Sure. It’s all stainless steel.
The flanges can be connected. It is best not to weld dissimilar steels for pipelines. Especially in areas subject to wet hydrogen sulfide stress corrosion, CLG explicitly states that it is not recommended due to the high risk of cracking at the weld fusion line.
For the first type, it is best to use insulating gaskets; the second type will work as well.
Ordinary material pipelines have no requirements regarding the material used; they can be connected, and stainless steel is chosen for welding materials. Those with specific material requirements cannot use it; the material must be selected in accordance with the actual product specifications.
Flanges can be connected, but pipes are not recommended for connection; if welding is necessary, special electrodes designed for welding carbon steel and stainless steel should be used for the pipes.
