During an external audit, the auditor identified issues that required correction: no evidence of verification, calibration, or comparison was provided for the orifice plate flow meter. How is this differential pressure flow meter calibrated or verified? How often do the plates need to be inspected?
The calibration of flowmeters can be entrusted to qualified organizations, usually local metrology and testing institutes, and of course it costs money.
There is no calibration method for orifice plates, and it seems there is also no way to calibrate them; without the possibility of making comparisons, it’s simply impossible to work with them.
