The desulfurization unit for coking acidic water consists of two parts: one is the acidic water located beneath the crude gasoline tank, and the other is the acidic water in the oil-water separation tank after the vent tower. Since it contains coke powder, is a filter installed before desulfurization? What kind of filter should be added? In our unit, the water in the oil-water separation tank located after the vent tower goes directly into the cold coke water storage tank, without passing through the sulfur treatment process; as oil has a significant impact on sulfur.
There is no need for a separate coking unit with a filter; after receiving the acidic water, the sulfur treatment unit uses a large buffer tank for sedimentation and separation. There is a filter at the pump outlet before the water enters the tower, and an automatically backwashed filter can be used, which yields good results. We used bag filters here before, which required daily cleaning; later we switched to ones that provided better performance. All the filters at the inlet of the high-pressure water pumps are now automatic backwash filters, which are very convenient to use.
I also suggested adding an automatic backwash function to the sulfur system. The manager said that it’s only our unit’s acidic water that is dirty, which is why they want us to add such a feature. What model of automatic backwash do you use for your cold coke water filters?
