For the Shenyu 4m80 machine, the cooling water for the two-stage packing does not flow (the cooling water goes to the cylinder body rather than the packing cup grooves). The cooling water outlet connector was removed, and the inlet valve was opened; however, the flow rate of water is very low； Connecting additional circulating water from the cooling water outlet flange for backwashing also did not work. It is presumed that the cooling water channels inside the stuffing box are blocked. Previously, circulating water was used as the filler, and this situation has never occurred ； The problem of blockages occurred in the recently changed salt-free water system; it is suspected that slag inside the newly added pipelines is to blame. What other reasons cause this phenomenon?
Logically, using better water should prevent blockages; it’s likely that the blockages are caused by residual welding slag and other debris left over from the modifications, as mentioned by the original poster.
