Problems with reciprocating compressors

The book states that since the discharge volume of a reciprocating compressor is pulsating, in order to maintain a stable flow rate in the pipelines, a gas tank should be connected to the compressor outlet; this gas tank also serves as a buffer. Has anyone set it up this way?
There definitely isn’t one for this purpose. If you want to control the temperature of the gas, you can install a smaller buffer tank at the outlet to serve as a buffer; safety valves and other protective devices can also be installed on this buffer tank to prevent the compressor from overheating or overpressuring
We have installed buffer tanks at the inlet and outlet of the reciprocating compressor in our unit
